Why Stretching Isn't the Answer
A two-hour Feldenkrais Method® workshop in Fruit Heights, Utah
Saturday, October 24, 2026
10:00 am to 12:00 pm
$67
Limited to 15 participants
If your hips feel tight, you have probably been told to stretch them.
Maybe you have. Maybe it helped for an afternoon. Then the stiffness came back, and so did the low back ache that seems to travel with it.
Here is what most people are never told. Hips that feel tight are rarely short. They are underused. Your hips can move in more directions than you ask of them, and when a few of those directions go quiet, your back picks up the work.
Not a flexibility problem.
A pattern problem.
And patterns can change.

You will spend most of it on the floor, moving slowly, in ways that may seem too small to matter. You will be asked to pay attention rather than push. By the end, the way you stand up, walk across the room, and turning to look behind you will feel different, and you will know why.
Two lessons, two angles on the same question:
Hips and pelvis. How your pelvis rides on your hips, and why your low back works overtime when it can’t.
Hips and turning. Rotation that comes from the hips instead of the lower back. This is the one that changes how you check your blind spot, swing a club, and reach for the back seat.
We close with time for your questions.
Who this is for
Active adults who want to keep hiking, dancing, gardening, playing with grandkids, or simply walking without thinking about their hips. People recovering from an old injury who finished the standard protocol and still don’t feel right. Anyone with a hip replacement on their calendar, or hoping to keep one off it.
You do not need to be flexible, fit, or experienced.
You need to be curious.
You stay in charge of your own experience the entire time. Nothing is forced. If a movement hurts, you make it smaller or rest. The learning happens in your nervous system, not in your hamstrings, which is why it tends to last.

Hi I'm Serena Cofer

As a certified Feldenkrais® Practitioner, education mentor, and mother of four, my mission is to empower others to learn and grow. Through movement, awareness and the Hero's Journey framework, I help women transform their lives.
My journey with the Feldenkrais Method® began as a quest to help my oldest son manage his rheumatoid arthritis and to find a meaningful career for myself. Surprisingly, both of us experienced profound physical improvements. One of the most remarkable changes for me was the complete disappearance of my decade-old shoulder pain. But the real gift was uncovering my inner strength and resilience to handle life’s stresses.
When I'm not mentoring or supporting others, you'll find me hiking, social dancing, gardening, and spending quality time with my family.
I believe that continuous learning and self-discovery are keys to a fulfilling life. Learning is a lifelong adventure, and I'm here to support you every step of the way.
Join me on this transformative journey.
